OSUBeaverSports.com is a site for OSU fans created by OSU fans.

The Problem:
Finding quality OSU sports content can be difficult and time consuming. When searching the internet for OSU sports info, a lot of it is low-quality, irrelevant or redundant. When you go to a message board, you have to read 10 bad (off topic, factually incorrect, irrelevant) posts before you find the one post that is informative. You also have to read five different websites to get the latest and best news, which takes time. Those sites also cover a lot of the same material, making a lot of their content redundant.

OSUBeaverSports.com Goal:
Find new news items, find insightful commentary, and find informative message board posts, quickly without having to read a bunch of worthless news and message board posts. Go directly to the best information and avoid the rest.

How OSUBeaverspots.com works:
Users submit articles, events and message board posts to the site. Once on the site, all content is subject to moderation from other registered users. Users can say whether they like something (it’s informative, insightful, interesting, funny) or whether they dislike it (off topic, factually incorrect, or just lame). Every post accumulates a rating score based on user moderation. Each rating from a user is one vote (plus 1 or minus 1). The votes are tallied and the post has a score. For example, three users give a message a positive rating, while another gives it a negative rating. The total score is two (3 – 1 = 2). There is also a filter feature. This allows users to filter content based on criteria including rating, the subject and the date the content was submitted.

What you get from the site:
Since articles are posted (linked) from any other website, it means you get the best content, from everywhere, not just content from one newspaper or website. You can use the site’s filter feature to set a threshold to view only positively rated content. You can also easily filter to see only content in the football section, or only see articles that were submitted in the past 24 hours. On osubeaversports.com you can very easily find the highest rated article on OSU football that was submitted in the past 24 hours, for instance. You can filter for any specific type of content you wish to see: top baseball article, most recent basketball article, upcoming wrestling matches, etc. The filtering allows you go directly to the information you want; you don’t have to waste your time looking at content that is not interesting to you.

All that you have to do is submit content (link articles, post messages & calendar events) you like and moderate content that has been submitted by other users.
